28 Jul **Face to Face** New Councillors Training Day

This in person training session is for new councillors as an introduction to your role.

The day will be split into two. In the morning, we will provide you with the basic regulatory and statutory framework councils operate within, and explain the key roles within the council, how you can work effectively together, the powers and duties available to councils to use, how decisions are made in meetings, and the administrative requirements for an effective council.

After lunch, we take a more interactive approach and hold our own council meeting, where we will put in place what we have learnt in the morning to conduct an effective meeting and make some decisions for our community.

This will provide a fantastic opportunity to see in practice the way a meeting is conducted, while allowing the opportunity to question and challenge why things are done.

By the end of the session, you will have a good understanding of what a parish council is, the part you play as a councillor and be equipped with the tools and knowledge to be effective in your role.

The cost is £80 + VAT* per person (Mulberry & Co internal audit client or Surrey & West Sussex CALC member rate)
